Honey Sesame Chicken


Ingredients:

Chicken:

  • 4 tbsp corn starch

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • skinless chicken breasts or thighs (cauliflower for a vegetarian option)

  • oil, for frying

Vegetables and sauce:

  • bell peppers, diced

  • red onions, diced

  • any other vegetables of choice

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp vinegar

  • 3 tbsp honey

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • red chili flakes, to taste

  • ¼ cup water

  • 1 tbsp corn starch

  • 1 tbsp oil


Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine corn starch, egg, soy sauce, salt and pepper. 

  2. Add the chicken (or cauliflower), and let it marinate for 15-20 minutes

  3. In a frying pan, add oil and fry the chicken (or cauliflower) until golden brown on all sides. Then set it aside.

  4. In a saute pan, add oil and add the vegetables.

  5. When the vegetables have softened, add soy sauce, vinegar, honey, sesame oil, and chili flakes.

  6. Mix the corn starch in ¼ cup of water, and add it to the vegetables.

  7. Let the sauce cook on high heat for a few minutes until it thicken.

  8. Lastly, fold the chicken (or cauliflower) into the vegetables and sauce.

  9. Top with toasted sesames seeds, and serve with rice.
