Apple Crumble Tart

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry

  • 3 apples, peeled and sliced in 1/8 inch slices

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Crumble

  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Cinnamon Brown Sugar Glaze

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Lay down the puff pastry sheet on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  2. Use a knife to lightly score (making sure not to cut all the way through) a 1/2 inch border around the edges of the puff pastry.

  3. In a small bowl, mix together all of the ingredients for the crumble until it reaches the consistency of wet sand. Add the crumble on top of the puff pastry in an even layer, making sure not to cover the border you’ve created.

  4. Add the apple slices on top of the crumble in whatever pattern you’d like, but make sure the apples are compact.

  5. Mix together the sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly on top of the apples.

  6. Bake the tart at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are fork tender and the puff pastry is golden brown.

  7. Remove the tart from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes while you make the glaze.

  8. To make the glaze, add the butter, milk and brown sugar to a small bowl and microwave for 10-15 seconds until the butter has melted. Whisk in the powdered sugar and cinnamon.

  9. Drizzle the glaze over the tart. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

This tart can be prepped in advance and baked during dinner so it’s served warm.
