Afghani Chapli Kebab


Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef or chicken

  • 1 serrano chili

  • 3 bunches green scallions, thinly sliced

  • ¼ red bell pepper 

  • 1 in piece of fresh ginger

  • 1 c chopped fresh cilantro

  • 2 tbsp coriander seeds

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp crushed red chili flakes

  • Oil, for frying


  1. Add ginger, chili, and bell pepper to a food processor. Blend until the mixture is finely diced.

  2. The the mixture to a  mixing bowl with the ground meet, cilantro, and green scallions

  3. Roughly ground the coriander seeds and add them to the bowl with salt and crushed red chili flakes. 

  4. Without overmixing, gently mix together the ground meat mixture until the spices and veggies are well incorporated.

  5. Let the meat marinate for 1-2 hours in the fridge. 

  6. Shape into round and very thin patties.

  7. Fry the patties in a small amount of oil until they are golden brown on both sides and cooked to your liking.
